Things to Watch For

In addition to “noises in the attic” there are other symptoms of the local wildlife making a nuisance of themselves.  Wildlife removal experts are standing by to assist you.  All you have to do is call.  We will identify any signs of animals in the attic, and also protect your home from wild animals entering.  The attic is especially appealing to wildlife.  Animals nesting in the attic should be removed immediately.  Here are some examples of signs that wildlife removal is necessary:

Squirrels like to gnaw at the lead flashings on your plumbing stacks on the roof. This provides a direct path for rain water to enter your attic. Over a period of time this can cause mold growth, decay of the wood top plate in a wall or water spots on your ceiling. When the squirrel does find a way inside, he does the most damage of any of the common attic dwellers.

GET RID OF SQUIRRELS! CALL 321-917-0437

Despite the usual fear and loathing of rats and “how cute” squirrels are, the squirrel does far more damage. Squirrels have been known to bite into a hot wire and fry themselves. They also are the culprits who doubled your electric bill from last month by gnawing open one or more A/C ducts in your attic.

Other indicators of animals in the attic: One or more lights not working properly, alarm systems activating for no reason, cable TV problems, land-line phones not working at times, and other possible electrical problems. Many of the above problems can also be attributed to rats, although, squirrels bite while rats tend to nibble. Any water lines available in the attic are subject to be opened by rats.  What about bats?

GET BATS OUT OF ATTIC. CALL 321-917-0437

Bats need only 3/8th inch to enter. Bats have tiny teeth designed for dining on night flying insects. They do not chew on building materials (or people). They do develop dark rub marks at the sight of entry and leave tiny droppings stuck to the wall below and around the entry. The real nuisance aspect of bats is the horrendous ammonia smell of their urine which soaks into the structural wood and drywall. WARNING! Bats are protected by law. Do not kill bats or interrupt them in any way during their maternity season, April 15th to August 15th.

KEEP RACCOONS AWAY. CALL 321-917-0437

The most noticeable attic entry is made by the raccoon by pushing in the soffit. Sometimes raccoons will stay, sometimes not. When he leaves, his scent will dissipate in a week or so, and you now have a large opening for other animals to enter. The raccoon, despite the Mr. Mayhem commercials, does very little damage inside the attic. Occasionally the urine from a nest of babies will soak through the ceiling drywall.

Raccoons and other pests often go unnoticed as folks return home and drive into their garage to disembark from the car. Even parking in the driveway, most never look up at their house on the way in.
